William Johnny takes on Indigenous Inclusion and Youth Development role

by Dan Marshall

William Johnny has joined the Nanaimo Timbermen organization as the director of Indigenous Inclusion and Youth Development.

He is a proud Snuneymuxw member with two children who has been married for 19 years.

Johnny works for Kwumut Lelum where he started the nine nations lacrosse program to introduce the creators game to the nations Kwumut Lelum works with.

The nine nations program teaches basic skills and drills in hopes of starting the children on their love for the creators game.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to work within the Nanaimo Timbermen family to help grow the creators game within our communities,” Johnny said.

The Timbermen look forward to strengthening relationships with local nations and local youth through sport and community involvement.
