Wiedemann shares Defensive Player of the Year with Belgrave

by Dan Marshall

Burnaby, BC – The WLA is pleased to present the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year Award to Adam Wiedemann of the Nanaimo Timbermen and Drew Belgrave of the New Westminster Salmonbellies.

Aside from being a dominant force on the defensive end of the floor, Wiedemann posted 10 goals and 16 assists in 14 games.

2022 was his first season in the WLA and he immediately became a team leader.

Adam has also been a mainstay on the back end for the Georgia Swam in the NLL since 2018.

Drew Belgrave was a Timbermen draft pick before moving on to the Salmonbellies.

His athletic ability to make big plays on defence and contribute to transitioning the ball on offence made him a force to be reckoned with this season.

Congratulations to Adam and Drew!
