Tmen win two of three, in five way tie for first
The Timbermen went two for three in a critical week that sets them up for a battle to the finish for the WLA playoffs.
Nanaimo beat the Burnaby Lakers 9-7 on Tuesday night in a massive road win that broke a three game losing skid.
Jon Phillips led the offense with a goal and two assists while captain Brody Eastwood had a pair of goals.
Charles Claxton earned the win with 42 saves.
Saturday it was on to Coquitlam where the Tmen recorded a much needed 9-5 victory.
Mike DeGirolamo stopped 31 shots for the win while Colton Clark (3g, 2a) and Sean Tyrell (1g, 4a) were the offensive leaders.
On Sunday the Tmen and Salmonbellies went back and forth in a contest that went to overtime tied at 10-10.
The Bellies won the game in the three on three OT to set up a massive five way tie for first place in the WLA.
Jon Phillips had a big night for Nanaimo with three goals and three assists and Evan Messenger added two goals and an assist.
Charles Claxton was on his game with 49 saves on 60 shots.
As of Monday Nanaimo, New West, Burnaby, Maple Ridge and Victoria all had nine wins and 18 points.
All the teams have three games remaining with the exception of the Shamrocks who have four.
The last trio of games for Nanaimo are Saturday at home versus Langley (7pm), Sunday at Maple Ridge, and Friday July 26 in Burnaby.
The top four teams advance to the WLA playoffs.
