Tmen put up great fight in home loss to Shamrocks

by Dan Marshall

The island rivalry games are over for another season after a 10-7 setback for the Tmen on Saturday.

The game was 6-6 in the third period but the Shamrocks got the offense they needed to come away with the victory.

Nanaimo was led by Jake Cullen offensively with two goals and an assist and Jon Phillips also had two goals.

Mike DeGirolamo was strong in net with 50 saves.

Victoria won all three games in the season series and they're now sitting in first place in the WLA standings.

With four games left Nanaimo needs to run the table against Coquitlam  (twice), Langley, and Burnaby to make the post season.

This week features road games Wednesday versus the Thunder and Saturday at Coquitlam - two opponents also outside the playoff bar.
