Tmen looking to rebound after home losses

by Dan Marshall

July opened with a set of three quick games in the first week.

The Timbermen were at home but suffered setbacks at the hands of the Shamrocks, Burrards, and Adanacs.

In Thursday's island rivalry Victoria got up 3-0 before the Timbermen fought back to scores of 4-3 and 6-5 down.

In the end the Shamrocks made a final push to win 10-5.

Jon Phillips and Evan Messenger each had three points in the loss.

Then on Saturday Nanaimo lost 9-5 to the Burrards.

It was a very close game through 40 minutes with Maple Ridge holding a 6-5 lead.

The Timbermen could push through offensively in the third though.

Sean Tyrell led the scoring with a three point night.

On Sunday in an 8-6 loss to the Adanacs goalie Andrew Gallant was the story.

The Tmen outshot Coquitlam 56-34 but the Adanac netminder stood on his head all game long.

Sean Tyrell had two goals in the loss to pace the Nanaimo attack.

Charles Claxton played all three games and stopped 93 of the 120 shots he faced.

At 7-5 the Tmen are in a tie for second place in the WLA and just two points out of first.

This week there are points on the table with a game in Burnaby on Tuesday, at Coquitlam on Saturday, and home to New West on Sunday.
