Tmen drop two games on the road

by Dan Marshall

The Timbermen have played almost the entire first third of the WLA season on the road.

They'll be looking forward to a pair of home games June 16 and 17 at home to keep their perfect record at Frank Crane Arena intact.

Saturday the Maple Ridge Burrards come to Nanaimo and then Langley is in town on Sunday.

This past weekend the Tmen lost a 6-5 nailbiter in Burnaby and a tough 13-5 decision against the Shamrocks in Victoria.

Jon Phillips led the offense on Friday with a goal and two assists while Mike DeGirolamo was strong in net with 47 saves.

Former Tmen Eli McLaughlin scored the game winner on a penalty shot with less than a minute remaining to secure the win for the Lakers.

On Sunday Phillips led the attack again with four goals and both DeGirolamo and Charles Claxton split time in goal.

Nanaimo was without leading scorer Chase Fraser and several other key players for the weekend which hurt the offensive production.

The opponents for the Timbermen come in with very different records this weekend, the Burrards are 4-1 to start the season while the Thunder sit at 1-4.
