Tmen announce veteran signings on offense

by Dan Marshall

The Timbermen will return several key pieces of the team's offense for the 2019 campaign.

Captain Brody Eastwood will return after last year helping to the guide the Tmen to their first playoff appearance since 2007.

Eastwood was Nanaimo's first round pick in the 2014 draft and is coming off a 31 point season in 12 games last year.

This past winter Eastwood scored eight points in six NLL games with the Vancouver Warriors.

2018 leading scorer Jon Phillips is back for his third season.

The lefty had 28 points in his rookie campaign, before posting a team high 53 last year.

The coaching staff believes the 24-year-old will be able to pick up where he left off at the end of the 2018 playoffs.

Colton Clark has been an extremely consistent point producer in his Timbermen career.

The veteran finished second in team scoring with 43 points a year ago and provides valuable leadership and right handed scoring.

Evan Messenger was acquired from Coquitlam just before the 2018 season and piled up 33 points in his first year in Nanaimo.

With increased floor time and potentially a bigger role Messenger should see those numbers grow this season.

Cam Wengreniuk is another player who is poised to take on a larger role this season after posting seven points in ten games in 2018.

A newcomer to Nanaimo, Sean Tyrrell is already a WLA vet.

Tyrrell has been with the Belles since 2017 and last year had 37 points in 15 games.

The former Okotoks Junior Raider is currently on the practice roster with the Calgary Roughnecks in the NLL.

He'll make his Timbermen debut after the NLL final has concluded.

The Timbermen will announce more of their 2019 roster ahead of Friday's season opener in Victoria, and Sunday's first home contest versus New Westminster.
