Timbermen start 2023 with 1-1 record
The Nanaimo Timbermen started the new WLA season with a pair of games on the road.
The Tmen dropped a 15-6 decision in New Westminster on opening night and then beat the Coquitlam Adanacs 15-10 on Saturday May 27th.
Zach Manns paced the attack in Nanaimo's first game with two goals and two assists.
Kyle Playsted, Colton Lidstone and Taggart Clark each finished with three points.
Justin Geddie made 35 stops in the loss.
Nanaimo's offense heated up in the Coquitlam game.
Once again Manns was strong with five goals and three assists, Clark had two goals and five assists and Playsted counted a goal and four helpers.
Geddie got the team's first win in net with a 30 save effort.
Manns led all Tmen scorers with 12 points in two games and he was also named third star in New West and first star in Coquitlam.
Nanaimo's home opener is Saturday June 3 at home versus Langley at 5 p.m.
It's a rematch of the 2022 WLA final series, won by the Thunder.
