Timbermen split home opening weekend

by Dan Marshall

With two home games to start June the Timbermen went 1-1.

On Saturday the Tmen edged Maple Ridge 6-5.

Taggart Clark led the offence with four points while Zach Manns, Lukas Olsson and Jon Phillips had two apiece.

Justin Geddie had a 37 save performance and was named the game's first star.

The Sunday game versus the Shamrocks was equally close, going in to the final minute at 9-9.

Former Junior A Timbermen standout Arthur Miller notched the game winner with 36 seconds left to play to give Victoria a 10-9 win.

Zach Manns paced the attack with six points while Jon Phillips had five.

Devlin Shanahan and Colby Bowman shared the crease.

Shanahan played 53 minutes and took the loss.

Nanaimo is now 1-2 after the first two weekends of the season with a single road game in Coquitlam this week on Saturday June 8.

The Tmen will look to avenge an opening night 10-5 loss to the Adanacs in that game.

The next Timbermen home game is Saturday June 15, also against Coquitlam.
