Timbermen sign Clark, Sorenson, and Claxton for 2018

by Dan Marshall

The Nanaimo Timbermen have signed a pair of dynamic right-handers.

Veteran leader Colton Clark and Dane Sorenson will be key assets in the Timbermen’s offence this season.

Clark is entering his 8th season in the WLA, the Timbermen’s assistant captain had 44 points in 12 games last year. 6’3 215lbs Clark is one of the most physically dominant players in the league and has a non-stop motor every night.

Dane Sorenson was acquired in a trade before the start of the 2017 season, but suffered an injury in his preseason workouts and wasn’t able to play last year. He’s fully recovered and been looking very strong in camp this year. In his 2016 rookie WLA season, Dane was drafted 13th overall by the New Westminster Salmonbellies, and finished the season with 20 goals.

Also the Tmen have added a key piece to the crease for 2018.

Goalie Charles Claxton was acquired in an off season trade with the Langley Thunder. He was drafted 11th overall in 2016 coming off a 1st team all-star selection and being named Goalie of the Year for the BCJALL.

Charles will partner with returning goalie Mikey Degirolamo to make a very formidable tandem this year for the Timbermen.

Nanaimo opens the season May 26 in Coquitlam, with the home opener against the Victoria Shamrocks slated for June 2 at Frank Crane Arena.
