Timbermen season ends in Game 4 versus Victoria

by Dan Marshall

The 2019 lacrosse season ended in Game 4 of the playoffs for the Nanaimo Timbermen.

The Victoria Shamrocks won 10-4 at Frank Crane Arena to capture the first round WLA series in four straight games.

It was the second straight year the island rivals met in the opening round, and the second straight year that the Shamrocks took the series.

Nanaimo had identical records in the regular season in both 2018 and 2019 going 10-7-1, but couldn't get an elusive playoff victory in the post season this time around.

Victoria opened the scoring in the opening minute of Game 4 and perhaps that set the tone.

They went on to build up a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Nanaimo had second period goals from Gord Phillips, Jordan Gilles, and Nick Finlay but still trailed 7-3 after two.

Colton Clark scored a late goal to round out the Tmen scoring on Monday night.

The Shamrocks advance to the WLA Finals to play the winner of the New Westminster versus Maple Ridge series.
