Timbermen in the playoffs!

by Dan Marshall

The Timbermen are going to the playoffs!

Nanaimo's 11-6 win over Coquitlam on Sunday clinched the club's first post  season berth since 2007.

Now that the team is in they have two games left to finish as high as  possible in the standings.

The Tmen can finish as high as second depending on their results against  New West and Burnaby and other out of town scores this week.

On Sunday Nanaimo was led by a six point effort from leading scorer Jon  Phillips.

Chase Fraser and Evan Messenger each had four points and Fraser recorded  his fourth hat trick in five games.

Goalie Mike DeGirolamo allowed five goals in the first period against the  Adanacs but then slammed the door shut by giving up just one goal in the final  40 minutes.

Nanaimo has won five consecutive games en route to securing a playoff  spot.

In that stretch they've only given up ten goals once.

With a record of 9-6-1 the Timbermen are on pace for their best season  since returning to the WLA in 2005.

Nanaimo has not reached double figures in wins since coming back into the  league - they have two chances to get there this week.
