The June 17 Western Lacrosse Association game between the Victoria Shamrocks and Nanaimo Timbermen will be televised across most of Vancouver Island on Shaw TV.

Broadcasting the game on the Shaw Spotlight channel will expose the WLA to more fans throughout the Vancouver Island region.

WLA Commissioner Paul Dal Monte said, “Two great teams and the historic Island rivalry make Shamrocks - Timbermen games “must-watch” events.”

Dal Monte added, “We’re grateful to Shaw for their support in bringing the game of lacrosse to fans on Vancouver Island.”

Nanaimo Timbermen President Chris Bowman said it's an opportunity to showcase the WLA's only Vancouver Island rivalry.

"We are always looking for more ways to grow the game and putting this game on television gives our teams and our sport that extra exposure. We're excited to be able to offer this to our fans and we it hope it creates new fans as well."

Victoria Shamrocks General Manager Chris Welch said reaching a wider audience is good for the game.

"This is a great platform to showcase our sport and it allows more people to experience the excitement that the Island rivalry between our two storied clubs never fails to generate."

The game in Nanaimo on Saturday June 17 at 7 p.m. will be broadcast live in most Shaw Spotlight systems across Vancouver Island.
