Congrats to All Stars Manns, Messenger and Wade

by Dan Marshall

Three Nanaimo Timbermen were named WLA Second Team All Stars for 2024.

Zach Manns, Evan Messenger and Nate Wade were chosen at the conclusion of the regular season.

Manns had another big offensive year with 75 points which was second in the league.

He was also second in assists with 44.

The versatile Messenger has been a consistent presence out either the front or back game for the Tmen.

He had 10 points in 16 games in 2024.

Captain Wade missed six games due to injury and his leadership was sorely missed.

The hard nosed defender had two assists in 12 games and is the engine of the Timbermen defence.

The other Second Team All Stars were goalie Brandon Humphrey from Maple Ridge, former Timbermen Gord Phillips of the Lakers, ex Junior Timbermen star Jacob Dunbar, and Burnaby sniper Ben McDonald.

This year's First Team All Stars were netminder Chris Origlieri of the Shamrocks, defenders Isaac Ngyou of the Maple Ridge Burrards, Jalen Chaster of the Coquitlam Adanacs, and Drew Belgrave of the New Westminster Salmonbellies.

On offense it was league leading scorer Will Malcom of the Salmonbellies, Robert Church of the Langley Thunder, and Jesse King from the Victoria Shamrocks rounding out the First Team.
