2018 2ND ROUND PICK ADDED IN TRADE WITH VICTORIA

The Nanaimo Timbermen have acquired a 2018 2nd round draft pick from the Victoria Shamrocks in exchange for the playing rights of Casey Jackson.

Timbermen president Chris Bowman says the move was made possible because of Nanaimo's strong crop of offensive lefties.

"We were able to move Casey Jackson because of our depth. Casey hasn’t played for almost two years now and we have a great left side with two veterans in Cody Bremner and Brody Eastwood. We also had two rookies who combined for 25 goals in Brett Hawrys and Jake Cullen," said Bowman.

The Tmen are expecting to make more moves in the lead up to the 2017 draft as well.

Bowman says Nanaimo is already well stocked with picks.

"We are going to be adding even more talent and depth to our roster on February 16th at the WLA Draft. We have two picks in each of the first five rounds, starting with numbers two and three overall in the first round," said Bowman.

The 2017 WLA season will begin in the middle of May with schedule details to be released shortly.
