Timbermen Hand out Awards

With the Timbermen season ending on a great note against the Victoria Shamrocks on August 1st, the team recognized its key players with an awards night and year-ender last week. The team garnered 4-11-3 record, but their spirit, intensity and heart more than made up for their losses. The T-men tied all the top teams in the league this season, with a 15-13 OT loss to Coquitlam Adanacs on June 20th, an 11-11 tie with the New Westminster Salmonbellies on June 11th, and a 16-16 tie with the Victoria Shamrocks at their last game of the season on August 1st. The top scorer for Nanaimo was hometown hero Scott Ranger, who ended the season with 44 goals and 71 points. Kaleb Toth had the most assists this season with 46 to add to his 18 goals. Most penalty minutes went to Kyle MacInnes acquire 56 minutes in the "sin bin". Goaltender Matt King racked up the minutes, with 637:27, while Matt Flindell had 361:39. Most powerplay goals went to Scott Ranger with 11, as well as most shorthanded goals, with 3. The 2009 T-men award winners are as follows:
