Season Starts with Mixed Emotions
May 26, 2009
"The Frank Crane Arena was buzzing as the ball dropped in the Senior A
Timbermen home opener against the Langley Thunder. The Timbermen came out
strong as they gained a 5-1 lead in the first period. The momentum continued
through the second period as the Timbermen maintained their lead and went
into the third period with the confidence of a 7-4 advantage.
The crowd was bustling with excitement as the Timbermen seemed to be
dominating the Thunder and on their way to their first win of the season.
However, the Thunder were not to be taken lightly as they come out hard in
the third period, scoring 5 goals that tied up the game at 9.
The crowd came back to life in the final minutes of the game, cheering on
the Timbermen to try and push them to a win. Unfortunately, it was a little
too late and the Thunder scored the game winning goal within the final
minute. The Thunder continued to dominate the last seconds, resulting in a
12-9 victory in their favour.
The Timbermen are 0-1-1 on the season and look to regain their moment from
the season opener. The next Nanaimo Senior A Timbermen game is May 30th
against the New Westminster Salmon Bellies. Call 250-754-1004 to secure your
