New Look For a New Season
April 29, 2009
With new management, a new season and new expectations comes a new look and attitude for the Nanaimo Senior A Timbermen.
The Senior A squad returns to the roots of Nanaimo Lacrosse by reacquiring the red, white and black color scheme that is seen around the city with the other lacrosse teams. In addition to the new colors the logo has seen some subtle yet significant changes.
The "Timberman" concept has been kept but in matching with the teams new colors, his outfit is now a bright, vibrant read. "He has also been altered to look more like a forest worker," explains Cole Renner, "we've changed his helmet and gloves to look more authentic. Not a lot of people saw that the old logo had a lacrosse ball in the background so we addressed this as well by having a grey circle behind him to represent the ball [in the new logo] as opposed to a white semi circle [in the old logo]."
Underneath the logo is the word "Timbermen" in red with "Nanaimo Sr. A Lacrosse" below that. "It is important for us to brand ourselves as the premier lacrosse club in this community. The Senior A level is what players in the junior ranks work for, and we need to better associate ourselves with the WLA the level of competition that we compete with," claims Renner.
The Nanaimo Timbermen take the floor for their first game of the 2009 on May 22nd in Burnaby but then kick off their home season with a Game on May 23rd against the Langley Thunder.
